Preparing the next generation of Stritch physicians

As a Jesuit medical school (1 of only 4 in the country), we are called to help our students become “persons for others,” and today’s students are not just academically strong, but they demonstrate compassion, empathy, and desire to be a part of a community guided by Ignatian values.  

Medical students across the country face significant financial pressure, and scholarship support can make or break a student’s ability to focus on learning, training, and serving rather than on debt. Today, over 75% of Stritch students receive scholarship support, and still over half of those students take out loans that exceed $50,000 per year. 

In pursuit of our Jesuit mission and for the future of medicine, we have a responsibility to ensure those who have been called to pursue medicine with the talent, disposition, desire, and commitment can realize their dreams, regardless of their financial need.   

Thanks to the generosity of a Stritch alumnus, the Stritch School of Medicine has launched a matching gift scholarship campaign to help unlock $300,000 to support the Stritch Dean's Scholarship Fund.  

The anonymous donor is challenging the Stritch community - alumni, parents, and friends - to join him in his support by offering a 1:1 match on gifts of $2,500 and up to the fund. The aim, a combined $600,000 in new and increased scholarship support to help the next generation of aspiring physicians. 

Qualifying gifts鈥痮f $2,500 and more will be matched dollar for dollar up to $300,000. The matching opportunity applies to annual gifts of $2,500 and more, as well as qualifying pledges made on or after鈥�October 3, 2026. Qualifying pledges should be at least $2,500 per year and fulfilled by鈥�June 30, 2029.鈥�鈥�
